Photo Finish Primer – Pore Minimising

IMG_0081.JPG

SMASHBOX | AMAZON

The consistency of Smashbox’s photo finish foundation primer, has this almost silicone feel that feels quite soft against the skin. I do however find the primer to be difficult to spread across evenly, at times it just sits on top of the skin and would clump. It somewhat blurs the pores, but like what I said earlier, because of the difficulty of spreading the primer you may find yourself with areas that are uneven.

I purchased this primer to see whether the ‘oil-free’ property of this primer, has any effect on my medium-oily skin-type… It keeps my skin matte looking for about 3 hours, but later throughout the day I definitely need to blot. I’d say this primer works well, if you have a smooth surface, tend to be on the non-oiler side or have an applicator to evenly spread the primer.

The primer is fragrance-free and has enough formula to last you 2-3 months!

Ageless Enriching Renewal Cream

TATCHA

When you first see Tatcha, what do you envision? For me it speaks out luxury, history and a leader in the beauty industry. So I had to get my hands (and skin) on a Tatcha cream!

I am almost half-way through this hydrating moisturiser, 1 to 2 little scoops is enough for the face and neck. Richly hydrating, non-sticky and it has this cooling and calming affect. I do use it during my night-time routine, as it is definitely more on the heavier side. The fragrance scent is barely there. What I’ve noticed is when applied at night, the next day my skin still retains that softness. It does take about a minute or two to fully absorb and does not sit on your skin.

The packaging was exquisite, from the box it came in, the thoughtful note and down to the sturdy jar itself. This is the full size costing about $100+ and you can also purchase the travel size.

“Absolutely nothing is as important as knowing who to trust”
– Radovan Kavicky

18/11 I seem to always greet a new blog post by saying how long it has been. Which is both frustrating and funny. I tell myself over and over again to keep my blog alive, but to no avail. The goal is still there.

A lot has happened and a lot has been accomplished. One I’ll quickly highlight is the creation of another blog, dedicated specially to my professional development ‘CURIOUS ARCHIVE‘. I thought of creating a public blog, that would both capture my experiences and also sheds light to the profession, for seasoned and unseasoned information professionals. I’ll talk about it more in the other blog.

Fantastic Beasts 2 was a fun watch! It is definitely more on the darker side, a new character revelation was unexpected and has thrown all my knowledge off the boat and I’d say is more targeted towards people who are fans of Harry Potter.

“The things most people want to know about are usually non of their business”

– George Bernard Shaw

15/4 Cannot take a person seriously, if they are still currently cheating on their supposed “love”. His/her partner is manipulated into the reality he/she is creating. If you decide to give ‘advice’ be sure to check yourself and don’t try to fix another person’s relationship. It is disgusting that you would go that far and assume that since a person is not revealing, say their bank account, it makes them suspicious? Like you and everyone else in the world, there are just somethings an individual would like to keep for themselves. What a mentality to have ffs. If it works for a couple then go-ahead, but bear in mind its not a pre-requsite in a relationship and/or marriage. Suspicious, you liar.

I hope you feel awesome that you gave “advice” and tried to “help” your friend out. Those slimy comforting words of assuring him/her of what they are feeling is alright and his/her partner is the problem here.

MIND YOUR OWN GODDAMN BUSINESS it’s funny when you don’t communicate with them anymore, that’s when they start assuming your life, intentions, personality, etc. I know myself better than you do. Mind you, I know that disgusting side of yours and your partner doesn’t. Oh wait, maybe they do know?

Multi-masking Bento Set

SKIN INC

Pricey? Yes, but you’ll feel pampered once you’ve have applied one or more masks!

A bento set is what this glamorous set of masks are called, created by Skin Inc. You get spoilt with 3 sets of masks with specific functions, Lines Be-Gone in rose gold, Get Glowin in platinum and Soothe-N-Purify in gold. The quality of these masks are amazing, sturdy and are not over-soaked. As these beauty masks are quite dense, they don’t slip or slide on your face, however mine were a tad too large. Interestingly these masks are cut in half, so it provides you with an opportunity to mix and match depending on what you’re targeting.

Gloss Bomb

IMG_1966.JPG

FENTY BEAUTY | AMAZON

Fenty Beauty’s gloss bomb lip luminizer has been out on the shelves for a while now and I have been loving this gloss for a few months now! First off the packaging is so chic, playful and it comes in a handy size, convenient to bring with you on the go. The amount of product you get out of it is amazing and if you only use gloss once in a while, this will definitely last.

The brush applicator spreads the gloss evenly and efficiently. My lips are pigmented more towards a mixture of medium brown and medium pink, which I find this rose nude shade blends perfectly well with. I generally apply mine on its own, but I have also used it on top of lipstick if I want an extra shine to it. For me, it lasts well between 2-3 hours after which I’d have to reapply. It is non-sticky even though the consistency is quite thick, has a slight peach vanilla scent and enriched with shea butter, keeping your lips looking youthful and conditioned. You will instantly see the shine come through and it does have tiny specks of glitter I think, which is another plus.

I’d repurchase this lip gloss, not because of the brand but because of the quality of this gloss. I don’t wear lip glosses often, but since this is not sticky, creates an illusion of fuller lips and keeps your lips hydrated it is worth the price for me.

Midnight Recovery Eye

thumbnail_IMG_1674[1].jpg

KIEHL’S | AMAZON

Been using this potent eye cream religiously every night. The skin around my eyes tend to dry up quickly, so I made it a mission to start caring for it now rather than later. After all the cleansing, once you apply the cream filled with squalane, lavender essential oil, evening primrose and other goodies, you can immediately feel it providing moisture whilst minimising the fine lines. I also found it to reduce the dark-circles, not entirely but it does brighten it.

Weightless, scent-less and it does not leave a sticky residue this restorative eye cream is a must! I love how it is perfect for sensitive skin and little application is needed to get the benefits.

Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner

FullSizeRender.jpg

SUNDAY RILEY | MECCA MAXIMA $80

I have mixed thoughts about this toner. Yes, the packaging is beautiful and sturdy, but the dispenser is a bit difficult to use. There is not a high degree of control to pump the amount you need, and trust me you only need a little. The smell is quite strong, so I would recommend using this during your night routine.

One of its goals is to minimise your pores as it has a mixture of bentonite clay, but for me I do not see a change. I have been using this for over 3 weeks. What I do like, is the usage of marshmallow and green tea, as I wake up, my face has a reduction of redness and it feels supple. Other key ingredients are cucumber, witch hazel extract, manuka, magnolia bark extract and black cumin all there to help tone, balance and prep your skin. I love the burst of potent ingredients and it feels great once applied, non-sticky and it absorbs fairly quickly. However, due to not completely matifying my skin and providing the results it claims to do… It is a nay for me.

6 Way Hydrogel Eye Patch

IMG_0885.JPG

KOCOSTAR | SEPHORA | AMAZON

At first I was a bit confused on the concept of the 6 ways, the patches can be placed. After looking for an image online, I finally got the idea and I think it’s brilliant! To be able to patch desired areas, and it is all in one pretty container.

Locations are eyelids, smile lines and the eye bags. Super cooling and it adheres to the skin beautifully due to hydrogel. Made to last for 30 days, you will notice the toning, conditioning, detoxfying and brightening results due to these goodies – peony, phillinus, ginseng, baikal skullcap extract and good old flakes of gold.

I have been using it every night and when I wake up. I highly recommend these convenient patches, I find placing this in the fridge, provides a more powerful cooling effect once used.

T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

IMG_0783.JPG

DRUNK ELEPHANT | MECCA MAXIMA | AMAZON

I use this serum in conjunction with another water-based item, beforehand. This best thing I have found using this, is that the next day my face feels hydrated and smooth. For me, consistency was key as it took about a week to see noticeable differences.

I looked into this company and I loved what they strive to do, especially educating others that not all natural products are good for the skin. I have noticed that by using this, it has brought the natural radiance back. So I can go out to work the next day, without wearing foundation and sometimes concealer. This intensive night treatment’s highlights are, pigmentations and blemishes are targeted and faded, roughness like bumps are reduced and for me it helps control oil. Dead skin cells are lifted away, which results in even skin tone. With a punch of 12% AHA/BHA and other non-harsh ingredients, you won’t be disappointed.
